Kaitlyn Luebben-Halvorson 's Questions

1. Do you think Schwarzenegger is a good governor? Do you think he was
better in his first term or second term? Why? Do you think that he has had
this much success because he is a famous actor or by the way he has ran
California?

2. In this chapter it says, “Anyone elected governor of California
automatically joins the short list of people routinely mentioned as
potential candidates for president or vice president of the United
States.” Do you think that is the best thing to have the governor of the
most in debt state of the country run for president of the United States?
Do you think Arnold should be able to run for President or Vice President?
If the governor is supposed to submit a state budget within the first 12
days of the New Year, why did it take so long for this past budget to be
made? Do you think Arnold is to blame? Or is all of the initiatives on the
ballot the cause of this?

I don't think it's fair to blame one person. I think it is mainly based on the initiatives. People have ideas, which may be legitimate beliefs, and try to get them on the ballot and people just go along with what their emotions say when it comes to voting. It really doesn't have much to do with the governor in this state because we have such a citizen-involved legislature. However, no, I do not think that federal law should be changed to allow Arnold to run for president. One has to have been born in this country to become the president, it's the law. And if people decide they want that changed, it should be in the future and in general, not to change the law in an attempt to election a specific person.

I think that the best man for the job should be the President of the United States. If a Gov is elected into office in California they are inheriting California's debt problem. I think that we should look at how they ran the state and how they addressed California's problems before we opt to take them out of the running for a President. I do not believe, however, that we should change any law regarding regulations for becoming president. The idea that anyone, from any country can walk in (figuratively) and hold the office is a little too close to a one world government for me. I believe it would compromise the United States as a country.

Having the governor of California during a budget crisis run for president might actually be beneficial because he could learn from his mistakes and the mistakes of the people around him. I don't think the law should be changed to allow Arnold to be president. There isn't a line of qualified non-natural born citizens wanting to be president so we would be changing a constitutional law to get one person elected.
All of the initiatives on the ballot caused the long wait for the budget. While it is possible that a different person would have finished the budget sooner, it's not fair to blame one person when he's not the one who approved the spending of so much money in so many places, the voters did.

A governor is not the only one who messed up or maybe did not mess up at all. He definetly learned from his first term I will give him that. He cant act as a good governor. To do the job he actually has to do the job. There are too many people watching
Since legally this is as far as he is going to get I believe and he cant be President anyways. It was not the governor who should have come up with the budget but the legislature. It took so long cuz of the rival parties that are so intent on their own agena.
