Do you think that the removal of the underwriting process would allow more people to recieve health insurance (like they do in Washington State)? Do you think that it's fair that our State is allowed to turn people away for pre existing conditions, especially when they can't help having them? (For example someone who has been diagnosed with Cancer will never be accepted by any insurance company for any reason, because they do not wish to pay for a condition that was there before the person applied)
Do you think that government assistance programs such as Medical allow people who can't receive health insurance reasonable coverage and medical care so that they can have their problems taken care of? Do you think a different type of program would allow easier access to medical care at a cost that the uninsured could afford?

Its not right but as they say its just business. It would not be in the company's best interest to insure them. Treatments for cancer patients is very expensive and company's dont want to pay for that. It is not right but it is business. Insurance plans that employess go through with companies can be the best option they can get. They will still probably have to pay into it some but it is better then nothing and i believe it would be better cost per medical aid. Medical does not take care of their problems completely just relieves the burden a little bit and for some people every little bit helps. I would not know of a differnt program besides universal healthcare. Every system will have its problems, easier for some yet harder for others.
I think that our government assistance programs are not the best in the world, but they are somewhat reasonable for the people who cannot or should not receive medical care within our borders. I think that it would be hard for doctors to turn away someone who has been hurt, injured or sick just because they do not have medical insurance. I think that immigrants get the better end of the deal, but the poor grandma that has no 401K and who is running low on money will not be able to afford the cost of medical benefits. Medical bills are becoming increasingly more expensive as technology expands. My father had great benefits from the Ventura Police Department. I only had to pay a total of $60 for three shoulder surgery's, while most citizens insurance company's cover less than 25%. The cost of the surgery's was approx $3,000 a piece. I think that it is tough to devise a plan that would make it affordable to the people of low incomes. I think that people with less money might have to receive special loans for these operations and conditions. Perhaps these people could get some money knocked off the price of their operations if they make less than a certain amount each year. Although the hospital is a business, like Corey said, it can afford to give decent discounts for lower income families. Knowing California, we will just put another initiative on the ballot for spending at the state hospitals.
